In the wake of Nobel Laureate Omar M. Yaghi's move from Berkeley to Tsinghua, the popular press has published many ad hoc comparisons of China and America's capacity to cultivate world-class intellectual achievement. In this 60-minute virtual seminar, SFI External Professor James Evans used a quantitatively rigorous approach to evaluating the relative power of America and China's national scientific ecosystems. This approach was largely based on work James and his coauthors recently published in PNAS and other work.
