Special Event

All day

Our campus is closed to the public for this event.

SFI Business Network members have been grappling with ways to understand hierarchies (or the devolution hierarchy) for a number of years. The implications for decision-making in organizations are obvious and some of our recent meetings have focused on exploring models collective decision-making and distributed control. This meeting begins to explore the conditions under which hierarchies may change, adapt and evolve over time and in different contexts. Researchers from the fields of physics, biology, ecology and everything in-between will be presenting their research and facilitating conversations of real-world applications.

Speakers:

  • Caroline Buckee, Post Doctoral Fellow, Santa Fe Institute
  • Aaron Clauset, Post Doctoral Fellow, Santa Fe Institute
  • Jim Brown, External Professor, Santa Fe Institute and University of New Mexico
  • Mark Newman, External Professor, Santa Fe Institute and University of Michigan
