The Santa Fe Institute and SITE Santa Fe are pleased to co-present "An Evening Exploration of Music Complexity" on Monday, May 16th, 2022 at 7 pm.
This concert performance features a program highlighting aspects of “complexity in music” as interpreted by individual composers and performers. This event coincides with the opening of a forum on Complexity and Structure of Music: Universal Features, Evolutionary Processes and Cultural Diversity that will be held at the Santa Fe Institute in the following days, and will bring together network and complexity scientists, musicologists, music theorists, composers, performers, and neuroscientists to trade licks about the intersections of music and complexity from as many angles as possible. The program features a broad palette of works from a diverse group of composers/performers, including some from the forum participants, who will be present to engage in creative discussions with the audience. These local and national musicians will help us navigate the complexity of musical composition in classical, contemporary, and original pieces.
Tickets to this event are $5, and they can be reserved via SITE Santa Fe's event page. Seating is limited. The $5 ticket will count as a $5 charitable donation to the Santa Fe Institute.
