All day

September 23, 2024 – September 26, 2024

Our campus is closed to the public for this event.  By invitation only.

The ‘Postdocs in Complexity Global Conference’ will be held at the Santa Fe Institute on Sep 23rd – 26th, 2024. It will bring together prestigious interdisciplinary researchers from around the world. Postdoctoral fellows based at SFI and James S. McDonnell Foundation fellows will be joined by complexity postdoctoral fellows from around the world. The Postdocs in Complexity conferences foster an environment conducive to forging new research directions where scholars are given the opportunity to exchange cutting-edge insights, methodologies, and findings in the realm of complex systems. The annual meeting provides networking and collaborative opportunities for early career complexity science researchers. In collaboration with the Emergent Political Economies program, this conference will attempt to engage a diverse cohort of scholars from Global South universities and institutions, as well as practitioners from both the private and public sectors. By doing this, we hope to begin building the scaffolding for more cross-continental collaboration that will generate new, creative, and scholastically rigorous ideas that have relevance beyond academia. In addition, this will be a rare opportunity for early-career Global North scholars to directly interact with potential policy-making circles in the Global South.

During this four day conference the agenda will focus on building collaborative relationships through opportunities for discussion and brainstorming during research jams, science talks and social events. Postdocs will be sharing their progress on research projects from recent Micro Working Groups, have an opportunity to share their individual research ideas by giving flash talks and share knowledge through small group tutorials. A field trip and social events will round out the events for the four days.

The Postdocs in Complexity conference is generously funded by the James S. McDonnell Foundation, the Emergent Political Economies program as well as gifts from The McKinnon Family Foundation and the Darla Moore Foundation.
