"The arts — visual arts, cinematic, literary, musical — expand our imaginations and they explore territories that we don't even know exist. I've always felt that science wouldn't function without the arts. Art plays a critical role in the InterPlanetary Project," says SFI President David Krakauer. "What would it take to become an InterPlanetary Civilization? This is how we have fun while thinking about some of the very biggest questions. This October series provides a sampler of what’s to come in June. SFI brings the rigor of complexity science to this endeavor and our community partners bring unique elements of art and creativity to this project. This illuminates what is special about Santa Fe: few other places on the planet offer such a natural synergy between the arts and sciences."
