A kind of microaggregates was synthesized in one pot via polymerization-induced self-assembly (PISA). By illuminating with visible light in the absence or presence of fluorescent molecules, these self-assembled dynamic microaggregates underwent intriguing evolution behaviors, including transformation to vesicles, cyclic growth and collapse and vesicle fusion. This work offers a new perspective of the facile and versatile PISA technology, and these self-organized micro-object materials with specific evolution behaviors provide a promising platform that can be used as tools to mimic the origin and evolution of protocells.
