This interactive tutorial session will focus on providing organizational decision-makers with a better intuition for the logic, uses, and limitations of recent developments in machine learning. Key discussion topics include:
• What is machine learning?
• When is it applicable?
• Why do we think it works?
Particular emphasis will be placed on the types of data/question pairings that are most suitable for machine learning. The session will include discussions of situations in which increasingly advanced machine learning may not improve understanding or forecasting.
